What ACCTS Needs

TWO TYPES OF BOXES
When preparing goods for ACCTS, there are generally two types of boxes that are sent:

1. FOR A SPECIFIC WORKER
Contact the worker to ensure that what you are sending is what they need. Each box costs about $37 to get to Zambia (or approximately $25 per cubic foot), after which the worker has to pay to have it transported to them. It’s vital that whatever is sent is worth the cost to ACCTS and to the worker – either due to the value of the goods, or their being unavailable in Africa.

2. FOR CHITOKOLOKI
Most of these goods are essential to the operation of the hospital. They are more valuable than cash to the locals, since there is nowhere nearby for them to buy goods like these. Goods are used to purchase food for the patients and staff and to pay local staff. Those who work hard to grow food in difficult conditions deserve to be paid with good quality items in good condition.

  2. Children’s Books and DVDs
Please avoid anything with magic, casting spells, or masks. These are culturally associated with witchcraft. This includes most Disney products.
