Gerry and Jackie Libby were married in 1986. They have 4 adult children (all married) and 9 grandchildren. Their 28-year-old son, Nathan, died tragically on March 24, 2023. They are sustained by the hope that he is in the Lord’s presence and they will see him again.
Gerry was an elementary school teacher and principal for 14 years (1986-2000) in Peterborough, Ontario. During some of those years he served as an elder at Lakefield Gospel Chapel, their commending assembly.
The Lord called them to full time ministry in 2000. For almost 20 years they served in a pastoral and Bible teaching capacity at Lamable Bible Chapel and, more generally, in central Ontario assemblies. Gerry has been a director and speaker at various Bible camps in Ontario (Galilee, Hope Valley, Graphite, Northland) for almost 40 years.
Gerry and Jackie have counselled numerous premarried couples and are often called on in various counselling situations. They have been privileged to mentor and encourage many young people and couples over the years and continue in this ministry. Gerry has officiated dozens of weddings and many more funerals. Hospitality and visitation with people in diverse circumstances and needs has been another large part of their ministry.
In 2019, the Lord led them to move near Smiths Falls, Ontario. They continue to serve the Lord, as they are able, in the ways previously mentioned and itinerant Bible teaching primarily in the Ottawa valley and Eastern Ontario region.
The death of Nathan has affected both of them deeply. This severe trial has limited their capacity for ministry. Most of their areas of service continue, but in a limited way. Some ministries have been difficult to continue, but are slowly coming back. They trust that the Lord will restore them in His time for whatever work He desires them to do, “until the Day dawns.”
