Set in the tribal province of Kalinga, Tabuk City is surrounded by mountains and rice fields and is home to many different cultures. It is here where Tabuk Refuge of Hope International (TROHI) cares for girls 8-18 years old who have been sexually abused. TROHI provides a home for them where they are safe and cared for. The love of God is shared with each child. And education, medical care, and lots of food and clothing are also provided.
TROHI was started June 1, 2020 during the pandemic. Three women (Vienna Moilliet Anggowos from Canada, Cheryl Domingo from the Philippines, and Ellora Couch from the USA) had a joint ministry vision and teamed up on this venture:
- Vision: TROHI, a peaceful, resilient, and self-reliant center with compassionately empowered stakeholders where victim survivors are free from violence and become agents of change in the community.
- Mission: TROHI seeks to provide quality therapeutic and rehabilitative services to victim survivors to help them find hope and healing in the love of Christ in steering partnership with other stakeholders.
Tabuk Refuge of Hope is the only private organization of its kind in the entire region, and only one of two organizations with this kind of ministry for girls. TROHI employs several Christian staff who desire to minister to girls in need. Cheryl Domingo (a local pastor’s wife and social worker) is the executive director. Vienna and Ellora (missionaries) also help with management as financial officer and administrative officer. TROHI is registered and licensed under the Department of Social Welfare in the Philippines.
