We are excited about a new initiative Faith Academy is undertaking. In the past decade, fewer mission agencies are sending missionaries to the Philippines.
As a school committed to providing a dynamic, relevant education primarily for the children of missionaries working in Asia, we have been before the Lord asking Him to show us His plan as we move into the future. In answer to our prayers, we believe the Lord has opened the doors for Faith Academy to welcome children of Chinese Christian leaders into its classrooms.
The first step Faith Academy has taken is to offer a four-week intensive English camp (IEC) this summer. Twelve Chinese students ages 10-16 have been studying English with missionary ELL teachers since July 17. Todd has been the activities coordinator and has really enjoyed interacting with the students on a daily basis.
The next phase of this program is LEAP (Learning English for Academic Purposes). The inaugural LEAP class scheduled to begin in January 2017 will be made up of six Chinese middle school students, who will receive bilingual academic instruction for three semesters. The goal is for these students to be prepared to enroll in Faith’s regular high school curriculum. Please join us in praying for wisdom as this new program gets underway!from
