Via Mitch Parent – The destruction in Puerto Cabezas, Nicaragua and Puerto Lempira, Honduras was severe as Hurricane Iota made landfall as a Category 5, with winds up to 260 kilometers an hour. There was widespread flooding on the coast. Much of the area was hit with flooding of a similar magnitude as Hurricane Eta only two short weeks ago.
To add yet another motive for prayer, a broad area of low pressure could form in a day or so over the southwestern Caribbean. Areas of heavy rain are possible. These rains could cause new flooding concerns, especially across previously inundated areas.
