Peter had surgery on Monday, June 20 to have a new knee. The surgery went well but he struggled with his breathing. Today during physio, he collapsed and when he came to, he struggled to breathe.
He is presently in intensive care with several pulmonary embolisms. He is on blood thinners, but his heart is having to work very hard to pump blood past the blockage. His blood pressure is all over the place, and he is just exhausted.
Please pray for the medications to do their work, for the Lord to give him the rest he needs, and for the rehabilitation of his knee. Many will remember we had a similar prayer request for our daughter Stephanie last year. This feels like deja vu. So thankful our lives are in His Sovereign hands.
June 27 Update: Peter is still in hospital but in a cardiac ward and out of ICU. Apparently, his lungs are full of clots and it will take a while before he can exert himself without being lightheaded and breathless. They are keeping him monitored and are running tests on his heart, lungs as well as his knee regularly.
He hopes to be able to come home soon, as he is very tired and not sleeping well. The beds are just a bit too short! Thank you for praying. It will be a long recovery for his knee with these extra complications.
June 28 Update: It seems today that the blood thinners are working. He has been able to walk without being both dizzy and breathless. First night he has slept 5 hours. Things are going in the right direction. Answers to prayer… the Lord is good! We are both so thankful for the large family we have in Christ. Thank you for your prayers, and encouraging messages.
