Pray for Haiti

Haiti is essentially on the verge of civil war. The opposition is trying to remove the president from power and they are paying gangs and troublemakers to generate chaos. Their tactic is to erect barricades in the streets and violently defend them, destroying property and roads, burning vehicles, shooting people, kidnapping, and raping.
We have continued to speak with friends in Haiti and have been looking for an opportunity to get back home to our work. Unfortunately, it does not look possible anytime in the near future. At the end of last week, demonstrations spread all the way to the rural mountains, right in front of our house and on the roads and trails where we live. Just across from our gate about 100 yards away is a government school. A gang of troublemakers destroyed the roof on the school with the children still inside and several children were injured.
Please pray for the people of Haiti! There are so many in dire situations, some literally starving right now as remaining food sources run out. We also know of several individuals who need medical help but are unable to get to a hospital, or the hospital has no supplies due to the violence and road blocks. Lives are being lost daily. Often it is the helpless that suffer the most.
Pray for the mission workers still there, many have been evacuated but the ones caring for orphans and adopted children who depend on them cannot just leave. It is extremely wearing both emotionally and physically to deal with this level of insecurity, and for many, their supplies are running out. Pray for us, that we would have wisdom to know when we should return.
