Our daughter Heidi collapsed into cardiac arrest on February 28th and was admitted to the ICU after having been resuscitated a couple of times. Following 5 days of intubation, induced coma, ECMO, and much more, Heidi began to show signs of survival. She tried to open her eyes. The ventilator was removed on Sunday. The hospital staff have said that they have never seen anyone go from being on ECMO life support to this point so fast.
They are going to take one of the IV ports out of her neck on Wednesday since she is only on antibiotics at this point. We are presently in quarantine in the USA until March 11. We did the first required COVID quick test. We are still negative people! Thursday, we test again. We’ll be out of quarantine then. We plan to avoid meeting Heidi’s husband for another week, as suggested by Embassy protocol. We want to keep COVID, the likely source of all this, from him.
We are overwhelmed at the response of love and care we are receiving. Hundreds, perhaps thousands have been storming heaven’s gates and standing boldly before the throne of grace on behalf of Heidi and us. We feel like the father in Mark 9:24 – “I believe, help my unbelief!” Growing in trust sure is hard. Blessings, keep safe, and please keep praying!
