God was still at work Ethnos first started reaching out to a particular people group in 1988, but they rejected what the mission workers shared. God was still at work, and a church was born through the witness of a neighbouring group. A family is now moving in to help with discipleship, literacy, and translation. Please pray for them. Please pray for safety Two weeks ago, we experienced the biggest earthquake we have ever felt. Almost everything in the house that was on shelves or in cupboards ended up on the floor. We were worried that our car would roll down the mountain because it was bouncing up and down so much. Please pray for safety, and especially for the salvation of souls. Read more
“Who will tell us God’s story?” There are several people groups within the Ramu Valley sending requests for mission workers to come. They plead, “Who will tell us God’s story?” Please pray that God would raise up believers from here or elsewhere to come, learn the language, and share God’s story. Read more
Pray that God would provide doctors Krista is working part-time as a nurse at the local medical clinic. The role of a nurse is much more all-inclusive here, as they run the lab, pharmacy, x-ray, and emergency departments. The clinic has typically operated with two doctors but has none at present. Please pray that God would provide doctors. Read more
Older and younger youth Please continue to pray for both older and younger youth in our village. Pray that many more will turn to the Lord and be saved. Often, the only teaching the children get is what they hear on Sunday or Wednesday. Pray that Satan will not steal the Word being sown in their hearts. Read more
Almost every family on campus The Christian Leaders’ Training College community survived four weeks of serious lockdown due to an outbreak of both COVID and a strong flu bug that hit almost every family on campus. Praise the Lord, all who were ill have recovered. Please pray for safety, as classes for Term 2 begin this coming week. Read more
The struggles they have been facing Two of the preachers in our village in PNG have a phone. They are able to purchase data, and we are able to talk to them using an app. They have shared with us about some of . Guidance needed John has been flying and supporting mission workers here with Ethnos for 27 years. He has recently noticed that he’s not as sharp as in the past. We both feel it would be unhealthy and even unsafe for him to continue flying. Please pray for guidance about where we can best serve here, whether in the hangar or the centre. Read more
An opportunity for the saints A couple of days ago, there was a very strong wind and rain storm that swept through our village. The wind ripped 9 sheets of metal roofing off our house and 5 off our veranda. We praise the Lord for a team who quickly purchased materials then came to our village and repaired the roof. A possible way to get us back We have been asking the Lord for His guidance, as we had no open way yet to return to Papua New Guinea after two attempts, despite John being an essential worker as a pilot.
