Needs in country churches

Whily made a couple of trips to the countryside. He took two of the younger twentysomething men with him to help in the teaching. We praise the Lord that He is raising up teachers in our church, as there is much need in the country churches.

Still 17 unreached tribes

There are still 17 tribes in Peru that have never heard that Jesus came to save them from their sins, and from the dominion of the evil spirits in the jungle. Pray that God might raise up more Peruvian missionaries to work with us in taking the good news of salvation to the unreached tribes of Peru.

Gordon Wakefield in Glory

Gordon Wakefield, veteran missionary to Peru, was called home to be with the Lord this morning (November 22, 2016) in Hutchinson KS. He had been in hospice care for cancer. Your prayers for Florence, the Wakefield family and the many whose lives have been impacted in Peru are greatly appreciated.

Copper cables stolen

Pray for the Lord to take care of people that are always looking for ways to steal something from us. Just recently, they cut the power lines to the orphanage and took away 450ft of precious copper cables. Our connection to the main power grid is several hundred feet away crossing not so visible areas. They replaced the good cable…

Pray for a sister from church and I (Nicole), as we go to help out at the first one-day ladies' meeting from the Jequetepeque Valley area. Pray that the Lord would help me prepare a biblical message that would connect with the ladies from the countryside, who have poor education and are from an agricultural background.

Gordon’s health

In late August Gordon began receiving chemotherapy and radiation treatments, with no promise of a cure, but rather expectations of more complications to his health. The resulting infection caused more pain and discomfort to his already weakened body. Yanesha native churches

Pete made another short trip to the jungle, to teach leaders of Yanesha native churches. The 25 native workers welcomed the teaching, but Pete found this trip to be quite tiring physically, because after an all-night bus trip over the mountains, he had to hike one hour in hilly terrain. International adoptions

Peru has indefinitely paralyzed international adoptions. This could possibly affect some of our children at the orphanage who are now adoptable, as most adoptions are international. Please pray that this will be short-lived and that God would provide Christian families for our children.

We started an online course in Biblical Counseling and within the first few days we were bombarded with one-on-one sessions of various sorts. Some of these are quite casual and simple but some persist. Pray for wisdom.

2017 School year

Strong Tower Christian School is in its 9th year serving in Pueblo Nuevo. Christian education and English are taught daily, as well as a strong academic program. The school provides us with the opportunity to reach the students and their families with the Gospel. Pray for the Lord's direction to plan for the 2017 school year, which begins in March.

Midyear Kids’ Clubs

In July and August we will have our midyear programs for the kids' clubs. Pray that the parents would also be encouraged to come and see what their children are learning. Lord willing, there will be one or two week of VBS in August, depending on the children's mid-year school break schedule.
