Personal attention We are busy in the process of renewing government accreditation for Morning Star Children’s Home and updating legal paperwork for the kids. At the same time, all of the children require personal attention to reinforce that they are valued and loved. It is difficult to do both well, however we thank the Lord for providing needed wisdom, guidance, and grace. Read more
Another school year started Please pray for the staff and students of Elliot Christian School as classes officially began virtually on March 8th. Where many private schools were forced to close down permanently, we feel blessed that, by God’s grace, we are starting the school year at full capacity. Read more
To reach the community Pray for an Ashaninka church-planter who is ministering to 5 small congregations that he started a few years ago. Many times, he and his small team risk their lives when they swim across a swollen river and hike several hours to reach the community where they minister God’s Word. Read more
This really difficult time Please pray for Perú, as many people are passing away from COVID. On the coast they have run out of oxygen tanks. The medical system is collapsing again. Pray that this really difficult time will cause many people to be open to the Gospel and that the church will be ready to share the Good News. Read more
Developing secret lives We are seeing plenty of family issues surfacing because of the pandemic. Children, under the guise of doing schoolwork online, are developing secret lives via social media and are being exposed to evil. Pray with us as we try to stay one step ahead by taking our children through the Word each day and implementing internet filters. Read more
A Sunday school newspaper As we are still unable to resume Sunday school, we decided to bring Sunday school to the kids. We started producing a Sunday school newspaper. Every week it includes a Bible lesson, memory verse, science experiment with the gospel message, space for drawing and submitting what they have learned, and finally a question-and-answer section. Higher up in the mountain areas We are at the beginning of our second wave of COVID-19 now. Cajamarca now has no ICU beds. Pray for strength and safety for all the believers. Wilser made a trip to the countryside to encourage the church leaders. We praise the Lord that very few people have died higher up in the mountain areas where Wilser visits the churches. Read more
Their first Christmas away For some of our children at Morningstar, this was their first Christmas away from their home. This can produce mixed emotions, missing biological family yet at the same time enjoying the holiday spirit. We do our best to make it a happy day for each child, teaching about the true meaning of God’s gift to them. Read more
Evangelistic outreach We were able to have an evangelistic outreach with about 80 ladies on Zoom. Lord willing, we hope to continue with these meetings monthly. Please pray for the contacts we have with these women. We are also sending out the King of Glory videos to them via WhatsApp. Please pray that the Lord will awaken spiritual interest in them. The time has come Please pray for wisdom in the day-to-day tasks at Morningstar Children’s Home. It is a challenge to keep up while short on staff. We feel the time has come to take on someone to share in the administrative duties as well as one more full-time caregiver. May the Lord bring the right people to fill those gaps. Read more
Flourishing in the loving environment We received a plea from Child Protective Services regarding a 15-year-old girl who had run away from home because of sexual molestation by her father. Our last available bed is now hers. This girl is flourishing in the loving environment and guided supervision of Morning Star Children’s Home.
